Noctiluce | Neon
Acoustic Section PERFORMED BY STANDING WAVE ENSEMBLE

Noctiluce | Neon is a two-part audiovisual work for Pierrot ensemble plus percussion, fixed media, and optional real-time generative visuals. Set between acoustic fragility and electronic saturation, the piece imagines a world in which human presence continues to evolve within an environment increasingly shaped by technology and artificial intelligence. Part I begins in a fragile, organic sound world, where breath, resonance, and raw acoustic gestures gradually gather into more complex forms. As the music unfolds, this natural environment becomes increasingly unstable, eventually giving way to the disruptive force of technology and AI. Part II moves into a denser electroacoustic space in which instrumental and electronic sounds become inseparable. An optional live visual system, built in Processing and driven by real-time audio input, extends this transformation through shifting light, motion, and density. The acoustic section of the work was premiered by the Standing Wave Ensemble. With thanks to Dr. Paul Frehner, Dr. Vivian Fung, Dr. Ewan Macpherson, Dr. Jonathan De Souza, and the Standing Wave Ensemble.
