Music Works in Audio

There are various types of musical works in audio files.

Orchestration work

Soil Of Imperial Power
(2021)

This innovative work combines traditional Hunan opera—Xiang opera—with symphonic music composition. I was responsible for the arrangement. The story is set in the late Qing Dynasty, during a time of social unrest and turmoil, and follows a group of young university students who seek a path to save the country and its people.

Music composed for a stage play

Inspired by the drama script of Bird written by David Harrower (UK), the composed theme for the theatrical version follows a clear ABC structure, tracing Una’s journey from childhood fantasy through darkness and pain, to a final return to shared reality—bridging her memories with the audience’s present.

This cadence, placed at the drama’s end, symbolizes the emergence of reality as the girl chooses to free herself from painful obsession and the weight of the past.

This soundscape was created to enhance the immersive experience of the experimental play "Sea" at the Xie Zilong Art Gallery in Changsha, Hunan. The purpose was to transport the audience into the emotions and atmosphere of the play, which follows a young man's night at the beach where he encounters various people and gains a new perspective on life. The entire museum space was decorated by environmental installations and made the space into a beach environment so that the audience can sit on the "beach" to watch the show. In line with this theme, different musical designs were incorporated to create a sense of being in a beach fantasy.

The Story of Nu River

Music, Prelude to the Art Festival Concert)

This prelude to the Yunnan Ethnic Arts Festival – Water Music concert honors the Nu and Lisu ethnic groups. Based on field recordings across Yunnan, it blends their distinct musical traditions—Nu’s rhythmic mountain songs and Lisu’s lyrical choruses—with natural and ceremonial sounds. The piece reflects their coexistence along the Nu River while celebrating their unique sonic identities.

Music Composed for Ambisonic Tech. Research

Echo of Gamelan explores electroacoustic composition through Ambisonics, creating an immersive spatial soundscape. Using a Max/MSP patch developed by me. Gamelan improvisations were recorded and spatialized in 3D. The work blends original and processed sounds, offering a layered listening experience inspired by live electroacoustic performance.

This is a binaural downmix for online listening—please use headphones for convenience.
