Sound Play (for solo percussion and fixed tape, 2025)

Soundplay is an experimental solo percussion work accompanied by a fixed electronic tape, composed for the Array Workshop in Toronto. It combines conventional tom-toms with various everyday objects, including some that contain water, to enrich the sonic texture in an intimate, exploratory performance. As water levels shift within the containers, their resonant pitches change, inviting the performer to engage with sound through a playful process of discovery. Inspired by the textures and gestures of water, the piece unfolds as a sonic journey, moving from subtle perception to tactile interaction and finally into quiet dissolution.
